How much time does it take to send or receive a fax?

Time Until Completion

  • Text-only documents: 30 seconds to 1 minute per page
  • Documents with graphics (e.g., scanned pages): 1 to 5 minutes per page
  • Progress updates: No updates are shown while the fax is in progress. Unlike a mechanical fax machine, which transmits one page at a time, FaxBetter sends the entire document as a single transmission. You will only see confirmation once all pages are delivered.
  • Third party busy: When sending, if the third party's machine is busy, FaxBetter waits for a bit and then tries again. If after multiple unsuccessful tries, FaxBetter will send you an email alerting you. See also If the receiving fax line is busy, do you automatically retry?

If you feel you have waited an extended period of time, see either I am not receiving my faxes, why? or I am having problems sending faxes. Why?

Speed of Transmission

  • FaxBetter uses the fastest technology available to send and receive faxes. However, if the third party’s fax machine operates at a slower speed, FaxBetter will automatically adjust to match it to ensure the fax is transmitted successfully.
